Find Books

CalArts Library Catalog Search the library's collections including books, course reserves, music scores, sound recordings, films, special collections, and more!

To locate a book in the library you will need:

  1. The call number
  2. The location
  3. The availability

 

Anatomy of a Call Number

Call Number: NC1001.H44 2008

N = Fine Arts
NC= Drawing. Design. Illustration (read alphabetically)
1001 = Commercial Art. Advertising Art (read as a whole number)
H44 = Alphanumeric code in reference to the author (read as a decimal)
2008 = Year of publication

*At the end of each shelf in the stacks you will find a call number range - for example, TS171 - ZA5075 - this is in reference to the first part of the call number and will tell you the range of call numbers you will find on that shelf.

  


 

Find eBooks

To find ebooks on your topic search the CalArts Library Catalog and in the FORMAT list, chech "eBook":

Now all of your results should be eBooks. Click "View Now" and then the link to the book will bring you to another site that provides access to the book:

 

Inter Library Loan

Inter Library Loan (ILL) is a service the library provides to students, faculty, and staff that allows us to borrow books from other libraries. The is a FREE service. To make a ILL request go to the catalog and select to search "Libraries Worldwide."

When you find the book you want, open the record and click "Request Item through Inter Library Loan."
